So I got a new camcorder for Christmas, a Sony DCR-TRV 18 miniDV. Came with the memory stick option, and I have the option of connecting to my PC via USB or Firewire. :bigthumb:

So here's the problem: When I connect the camcorder to my PC and capture video, the captured video looks like shit. The video looks great in the viewfinder, and when I connect it to a VCR it still looks good. Transfer to PC, and it looks terrible.

Currently I'm connecting to the PC using the provided USB cable. I'm probably going to buy a Firewire cable tomorrow...will that solve my problems? The only other thing I can think of is that the software Sony included with the camera is shitty. What software should I get?

    TIA

    For future reference:

USB sucks ass. Firewire is the way to go.

Also, Adobe Premiere 6.5 is an amazing program for editing video captures.
