does anyone do VHDL programming using Altera boards (or something similar)?
I've done VHDL on a CPLD chip.. was a little while ago tho!
A long long time ago. I do miss it.
i've taken a class on it... made a little 8 bit processor.
My primary area of research is with adaptive rename spaces for superscalar processors. A lot of my research requires me to simulate microprocessors using VHDL or Verilog. I also use simplescalar for simulations. So yes, I've had about 3 years of VHDL experience.
What product from Altera are you using? I'm most familiar with the FLEX10K. Are you using Quartus or MaxPlus?
I'm using the university board that comes with both the max and flex10k chip. So far I'm only using MaxPlus but later on I'll be using the Quartus. I absolutely love the class I'm taking. I want to really buy a board for Altera ($145 USD).
I've done little work with VHDL in my comp architecture class this year... Not nearly enough to say that I know it.
