What should I get this month?

    Both have similiar features...

... I'd never had a Motorola cell phone before, are they as customizable as LG phones?

Given Motorola's recent quality lapses I'm going with the 8100.

I like LG phones, have had my 4400 for the past 2 years and has survived just about anything you could do to a cell-phone... Im getting the 8100 in Nov. when my NI2 contract ends

The LG 8100 is due out Jul 15. It was supposed to be out today, and you may be able to pick one up today, but the official launch was pushed back a few days because of low inventory.

I work for Verizon and I haven't had a single tech support call on an E815 yet. I'm not saying there might not have been some issues, but if they were that widespread I probably would have received a call by now. As of yesterday we were still selling them. If I hear something different I will post something up.

Actually it was changed again today until July 14. The stock situation must have improved a little bit. I'd get your order in fast though. There is alot of demand for this phone and the initial shipment will probably sell out quickly.

One of the first shipments of e815s did not have vcast software in them. All it requires is a software update that can be done in store. The stores that got the bad batches were told to update them before selling them, which is what caused the delay.

The only problem I have heard about this phone is the speakerphone can cause an echo if using it with the flip closed.

I've had an 8100 for the past couple days and am very happy with it. Picture quality is very good under optimal lighting. Very solid phone. I don't like motorolas in general. Almost every phone motorola comes out with has some glitches or something down the line.

the only thing that's making me even consider the e815 is "seam editing" that it seems you can do with motorolas.... what exactly is it though and is there an equivalent for LG's?

My uncle came home with the LG VX8100 for himself and the E815 for his wife. The Moto blew the LG out of the water. The reception with the 8100 SUCKEd compared to the e815. Overall, e815>8100

I got to play around with a VX8100 this weekend and as far as reception goes, there were no problems. Most of the time reception is just about the area you are in. Otherwise, the phone was really cool, the camera took some great shot and the speakers are really loud, its almost like a mini boom box.
