I know all the advertised "unlimited" data plans actually cap out at 5gb, but I've been reading about how its supposedly only for certain data types.

I've been starting to steam a shit ton of music on Slacker from my Droid while I at work, and I noticed it seems to chew up about 200+mb of bandwidth a day, which will throw me over the cap before my monthly cycle resets.

Does anybody have experience with Verizon cutting them off for exceeding their limit for streaming media? I dont want to get nailed with a giant bill for going over or even a nasty ETF and having them shut down my account entirely.

They cut me off at 8Gb, they thought I was tethering to a computer until I explained what I was doing.

So did they actually cancel your service or just warn you can cut you off for that billing cycle?

They actually shut down my phone service.

I called them, they said I went over the usage (I told them it's unlimited wtf?). They thought I teathered to my computer for internet.

Told em I was actually traveling (3 weeks on the road for vacation & shit), and was using my cell phone to play radio streams thru bluetooth to my car radio, as well as my daily internet usage (email, etc).

The contracts have changed over time, so read it carefully.

I have had a mobile broadband contract from back when they truly were unlimited. I d/l 9.8 GB last month withouth a problem. I also have a newer account that fell under the 5GB restriction. They charge you out the ass if you go over so I make sure I watch my totals on that account.
