I'm not sure what the hell is up with me and my soft focus. It's starting to get on my nerves. Is there something I should read about it? It always looks great in the view finder. I thought I had a good idea for it.

    Anyway, here are some pics.

This would have been really cool if it was more in focus.

    call me crazy but:

    Lens F-Number/F-Stop = 22/10 = F2.2

this could be a symptom of the soft focus :hsughno:

it was shot at 2.8, but it should be pretty sharp if he did focus correctly on the subject. nonetheless, it it a pretty cool pic

Well, at the Venice one 150-300 people gather on the beach, smoke pot and play drums/dance.

I always try to focus the eyes when they are available... If no eyes then I just sort of best guess it. I suppose thats why they are soft... Any focus technique suggestions?

No, I mean, are you half pressing the shutter button down or using servo while pressing the AF lock button?

Looks like you found your problem.

Try this out, Go into your custom functions, and set the * button to focus your camera. (don't know what custom function it is off the top of my head) then put your cam in AI servo mode, and try that out.

I doubt you'll have focus issues anymore.

Hm. I just tried that mode out. I had my finger near the lens and then held up my foot. It got decent focus on my foot and wouldnt focus on my hand. Thats a problem because I like to have a very shallow DOF
