I am a vegetarian, have been for 16+ years, I am 33 years old. I have done a ton of traveling for work over the past 4 years and gained a bit of weight. I am 6' 1.5" and weigh in at 237. Before coming to work at this firm, I weighed 202.

I go to the gym now 4 days a week. Only cardio is the mountain bike 2-4 days per week in the woods, definitely moving and getting my HR up.

    What should I be eating?

I have been doing Optimum Gold Whey (2 servings) for breakfast.
    1 serving before the gym.
Right after the gym I have either a can of tuna (I just started eating fish 6 months ago for protein), a head of broccoli. Sometimes PB and banana on Ezekiel. Sometimes veggie burgers and broccoli.
Dinner is usually rice, lots of raw steamed veggies and tofu/tempeh/beans.

I figure I am not even getting close to the amount of protein I need for the gym to matter, and I figure I'm not losing weight.

Today I ran out of Whey until tomorrow, so I had a PB and Banana on Ezekiel for breakfast.

Let me know what I should do. Thanks in advance.

Okay dumb question here, but when buying ground beaf and ground turkey how much are we looking at spending? Just getting this from the Deli section of local grocer? Another diet question: never see anyone mentioning potatoes in thier diets. I'm destroying the chicken, should i not be going chicken in baked potatoes? (Plans for next time is chicken, rice, n brocoli) But i do enjoy baked potatoes--w/out butter, bacon, and cheese, i'll usually go hotsauce instead.

    You guys' thoughts?
    thnks

What's your goal? Just to lose weight? You don't need too much protein then. Your vegetarian diet looks fine to me (as much as I hate vegetarian diets)

Eat thoes morningstar burger patties and sausage patties. They are fucking delicious. Love the meatballs and fake ground beef too.

    If you're trying to cut,
Eat 6 meals per day 8-10oz servings of fish same for soy. Low gly carbs less than 200g per day; eat lots of veggies.

Quit eating PB and J if you are trying to cut, that's on the diet.

idealy thing like oats, yams, sweet potatoes, refried beans these are all very fiberous and extremely low on the GI. IF you can avoid the enriched flour products, sugars, refrined wheats etc and avoid exceeding your allowed carb intake then stuff like brown rice, whole wheat pasta, potatoes, even white rice are okay.

good deal. this is the info i was looking for. thanks.

1 question and i know its a bad one: 8-10 oz servings, 6 times a day for every type of food on the diet or specific ones?

in other words, i assume i can eat ALL the raw veggies i want, right?

typically for lunch (right after the gym) i have been eating 2 boca/quorn burgers and a whole bag of broccoli.

    is this too much?

    thanks again.

    1 meal:
    8-10 protein oz
    30-50g carbs
as many vegies as you want (raw cooked it dosent matter)

two boca patties is approximently 5 oz.

    multiply by 6
