So do any of you guys know any ranges in or around vegas? I'd like to bring either my AR or shotgun for some fun while I'm out there (I'm not 21 yet).

I heard there was one on the way, (Gunsight?) that had FA rentals and the like.

    Any insight?

EDIT: On the same note, what laws regarding transport of firearms should I look up?

There are two full auto indoor ranges that I know of in vegas. Don'te remember where or the ranges. One was near the strip and it's just called the Gun store iirc. Kind of expensive.

The second one and the better one is off of blue highway something or the other. This is the place I hear does a lot of sales to californians whatever that means. Suggest you make any purchases before you do your rentals as you may need an id. If i recall correctly they don't need id's to rent full auto's but they do for pistol if that makes any sense.

As far as an outdoor range there is desert sportsman just outside of vegas. That's where they are having uspsa handgun and 3 gun nationals this year.

Nice, thanks. I was looking them up online just now. It seems like LV gun stores have about 10x as many guns on display than CA stores :wtc:

it's the desert, bring whatever you want, drive 45min from strip and you'll be in the middle of nowhere, start shooting (put vid cam at target pointing toward you), then post

Dont go to the Gun Store, it is a tourist trap that has long lines to shoot and requires "lead free frangible" ammo. I would recommend going to Discount Firearms on Highland, which is also pretty close to the Strip. There is also American Shooter Supply which has a pretty decent range, though the rifle range requires you to sit.

Also, there is an area about 7 or 8 miles north of Vegas on the 95 that a lot of locals (including cops) go to shoot. Shoot me a PM for the location if you want.

As for transportation, you should be fine with transporting the rifles as long as they are unloaded and in safe condition. Like always, let the officer know should you be stopped while the firearms are in your vehicle. Stay out of North Las Vegas with them though. If the street signs are blue, thats a good sign you are in NLV.

Alright, thanks for the legal info. Is the spot BLM? Is it legal, or do people just go there and do whatever?

The maps they have dont show it as illegal, and its a pretty safe spot. I dont know if it is BLM or what either, but its good. Anye desert area where you can actually see the city is illegal and off limits, but our police arent really to concerned about it. Most of the time, if they get a call about someone shooting, they go out, see the person is too far out to get to in thier car, and leave.

been to the gun store before and shot an mp5 and M16. it was a good time, but be prepared to spend quite a bit, like everything else in vegas.

irony is that i'm sitting in LAS airport with a delayed flight.
