Man.... That sucks.
I've had an AK through them, and thought rather highly of it. They seemed to do good work.
what happened? I've only heard good stuff about them....
so like, major discount prices on the horizon?
Your grasp of supply and demand needs a nobel peace prize
this is a realy realy shitty deal
That sucks. I wanted one of their MP5 replicas one day.
Federal indictment for selling ammunition that somehow ended up in the hands of Afgan terrorists..
Accordind to a guy here that is friends with the owner.
EDIT: That's what I heard second hand....could be wrong.
I knew I heard about this before. Didnt know Vector was involved though. That guy in the link above is the nephew of Botach Tactical.
So this might be a lot more than simple "fraud". From the NYTimes article (and I'm not saying I put a ton of faith in that...), this is straight Lord of War type gun-running.
They guy in charge is 22? Holy shit... I'm 23 and can't even imagine being involved in something of this magnitude. My friends/family make fun of me because I buy and sell a lot of guns; but a ~300mil contract?! Where the fuck do you even get the capital to purchase the initial ammo supply?
Very good read, thanks for finding those.
Goddamn.... Read the entire NYTimes article. I'm absolutely amazed at how something of this magnitude can transpire so quickly. It sounds like those guys didn't know fuck-all wahat they were getting into, and ended up right in the midst of some big time players. Notice the Swiss Thomet, who the article says is the possible middle-man (and I'm betting actual guy who made those deals happen)..... Brugger and Thomet, anyone? Arms dealing seems like such a grey thing. Thinking about all the drama that surrounded POF (Pakistani Ordnance Factory), Steyr, and now Vector and possibly B&T, I wonder just how many people are involved in what.
Fuck.... I wanna run guns and get 7.62 for $22 per K.... Sounds like a helluva lifestyle if you even make an attempt to keep it on the up and up.
Nice work, I remember the ammo contract thing but didn't know it was all related. How interesting.
Hate to bump an old thread, but the rolling stones recently did a pretty indepth article about these guys:
Weren't these the fuckers that had the sole rights to the SP89?
kinda sucks all these gun manufacturers going under.pick up a polish underfolder from them a year ago and the sight was canted end up fixing it myself and sold it.
