How hard is it to replace the timing belt on a 93 Cabriolet 1.8? Also needs the water pump replaced and the oil pan gasket. I've done timing belts before so they don't scare me but I have NEVER worked on a VW before. Any concerns I should have? How long should it take me to complete it and the other work?

I just did a timing belt on my wifes Cabby.
Ive done a hundred timing belts on VW's, mostly mk2, and her Cabby was easily the biggest pain in the ass. I wanted to beat the hell out of myself afterwards.
It's not that is "hard" to do, but this one was just a beast. The timing belt cover allen heads were all stripped, the PS pump bolt looked like someone took a grinder to it and the water pump bolt was rusted on.

The 1.8 is a non interference engine right? To install the belt you just line up the timing marks?
