I would like to have a forum like ot, but on a very small scale of course. From what I know, I'll need the software from vbulletin, mySQL and php.

1/ Anyone knows of any websites that show how to install it step by step.
2/ I have two computers, 1 XP and the other is 2k pro. Which one I should install the forum on?

    Thanks.

vbulletin its easy to install... i dont know of any step by step sites but... installing it isnt hard.

Turn the server on, Add a database first. Open up the config file with notepad or textpad and add in the information needed. Then call it up from the web like so..

    http://localhost/forum/admin or
http://localhost/admin/install.php and just follow the directions

hope its not a pirated version :bigthumb: have fun

Use Win2k... prefer it over XP anyway

Thanks for the responds. Didn't know there is a pirated version of Vbulletin :) but seriously, I don't mind payin for a good product like vbulletin. Heck, if it can handle ot, it can handle anything.

What other requirements a server has to have?

r00tman, thanks for the recommendation, i'll check out YaBB.

to run a board, cgi or php related...

need these installed, Apache or IIS, Perl, PHP, SQL, thats pretty much it. need phpMyAdmin installed if you plan on doing php board so you can add a database, unless you want to do it from the command line. cgi board, dont need anything other then apache/iis/ and perl. course if your wanting it for people to access, suggest a domain name, and a static IP :big grin:
