  11. Rashad would be a terrible bet. Look at chuck's record vs. wrestlers. Terrible style matchup for Rashad.

I am kind of intruiged by the cyborg odds too, though. The JLau and Jardine fights are too hard to predict.

i don't know shit about gambling but that seems like a pretty even match up and the odds are even and the - means you get shit in return for your bet so i figured that was a bad bet

but i have never bet on sports in my life so i have no fucking idea really lol

will be fun to watch though

so if you bet $100 with those odds and win what do you get? (yes i know that little about gambling)

i guess i'm overestimating rashad's standup given his KO against Salmon :o

i wouldn't touch anything involving Wandy i suppose right now

  14. If the odds at -115 and you bet 115, you win 215 dollars if the guy wins. (Your original 115 back, plus 100 in prize money) -400 = wager 400 to get 100 in prize money.

It's the reverse if the odds are +115. Wager 100, win 115 in prize money. +400 = wager 100, win 400 in prize money.

-115 is pretty close to 50/50 odds, and I think Vera is way favored beyond that.

there are some fantastic lines on some of these fights. I dont know how jardine will win, his chin is shit and Wandy is going to clobber him. He will fall before Wandy will 9 times out of 10.

odds sexy enough to put money on:
    Evangelista Santos +170
    Drew Fickett +300
    Thiago Alves +150
    Rich Franklin -350
    Kalib Starnes +260
    Georges St. Pierre -450
    Wanderlei Silva -160
    Lyoto Machida -200
    Chuck Liddell -265

    Really? You'd bet against GSP?

he said he'd put money on the aforementioned fighters

  19. GSP at -450 would ahve to win 82% of the time to be the same expected value as the money in your pocket instead of wagered on him.

Since most people want to be paid for taking risks with their money, he'd have to win even more than that.

Given how strong 'flukes' can be in MMA, plus the fact that Serra can be trouble for GSP (with his brawling style) I don't like the bet. Too low of a payout.

I"m seriously considering the cyborg bet, but I don't know. I have him at +190 at bookmaker, which is ~35% chance of winning the fight, but I"m not sure. Cyborg can be pretty terrible and I don't like betting on guys like that. (except buzz berry. I love you forever for KOing shamrock, Buzz)

Thats what I was thinking, but dropping 450 for 100 profit seemed extreme so I was just making sure.

Damn I wish I had more money. Still, betting would be the last thing I do. Wouldn't want to end up like Tanner.

no, that's just being greedy and thinking every payout needs to be huge. Someone with that significant of an advantage at only -450 doesnt come around all that often.
it's definitely not the best bet on the table, but i wouldnt call it a bad bet.

  22. every payout doesn't need to be huge, but Serra is too live for those odds. I want my underdog DEAD if GSP has to beat him 9/10 for it to be worth my time.

Serra has hammers for fists, and he's not going to get subbed. His submission offense is terrible in MMA (terrible given that he's supposed to be a BJJ fighter) but who knows there. And GSP might overtrain, injure himself, be terrified and fight dumb, or just plain get caught. I don't like it.

Now Barnett over Yoshida at -700, that's a bet I'll take any day.

Lauzon, Fickett, Ortiz and Starnes are good picks
