COMIC Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust

Discussion in 'Entertainment' started by Dropping__Chronic, Sep 9, 2003.

  1. Just bought and watched it on DVD, never seen it before. What a great fucking flick! I thought the animation was just amazing, and had a similar style to Ninja Scroll. Also the level of detail was just breathtaking.

I recommend this title to anyone. :bigthumb:

Same studio/animators, so the resemblance is no accident.

It's a great film, but it didn't quite have the waterfalls of blood or flying limbs that the original featured, my only niggle.

I hope we get another VHD film sometime. :hs:

  3. How did the first Vampire Hunter look compared to this one? How was the story?

I liked the story on the first one a little more-it seemed a little more "epic"

The first one is obviously old so the animation sucks.. but for back in the day it was pretty good.

  5. I figured the animation would be a lot less than the newer one, just curious of the overall story etc as well.

I loved Berserk, and it's not the best animation...

  6. What other titles did that Studio/team of animators put out that is good?

I love their crisp style, they really make some awesome scenes.

I think the original looks awesome, and is animated very well.

Think late 70s, early 80s film quality animation and you have it. The character designs are a little different as well. I agree too, the story of the first film was more epic, mainly because D was facing off against a vastly more powerful enemy, Count Lee. D doesn't get through the later fights easily or unscathed. Lee also had a very well developed servant character who is very cool.

The english dub is fantastic as well, which is uncommon for anime that old.

Love them both...very intriguing storyline, with the entire Dracula mythology rolled in...very cool.

Animation of each one is top-notch for its time.

The Hand's English voice and lines in the original >>> The Hand's English voice and lines in Bloodlust

The Hand was one of the worst parts of the new film, they ruined him. :hs:

I was lucky enough to see Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust in the Movie Theather, it has amazing drawings I just had to tip my hat to them.
