So this is getting remade into a new, extremely awesome-looking series, to start November 3rd, which is a Tuesday. Hopefully it won't conflict with Shark Tank. :noes:

Just FYI, Inara from Firefly is in the new one.

So because of that, since I haven't seen it since I was 14, I downloaded it and my friend and I are watching it over. I had completely forgotten how great the original two miniseries were.

    Cliffs: ***** minor spoilers *****

Aliens from the 4th planet of Sirius arrive on earth and promise to give us all their technology in exchange for helping them manufacture a chemical they need to save their planet. But all is not as it seems. :o

Very heavy in historical allegory. It's mainly about the Nazi takeover of Germany.

I haven't seen anything for the new version yet, any trailers? I loved the original, Encore like a year or two back were showing the whole miniseries, loved it.

I never watched the original miniseries, it aired before I was born :mamoru:. New series looks pretty cool. Elizabeth Mitchell was cool in LOST, and Morena Baccarin :naughty: Except she isn't playing a high-class whore anymore.

I've been hearing that the new series is already in jeopardy of being scrapped though, from io9 reports... hopefully it isn't true. Rumor is that ABC doesn't like alien shows.

Just finished watching the Original Miniseries. About to start The Final Battle, but I have mixed feelings. The original creator stopped working on The Final Battle because he didn't like the direction they took. He instead wrote a sequel and put it out as a novel not too long ago. So I might pick that up first. Definitely not sure the 1985 Series is worth watching as the reviews for it made it sound awkward. I'm definitely looking forward to the new series though.

E! reviewed the pilot and said it was the best pilot they'd ever seen. That's pretty good, I think. :dunno:

SciFi is doing a marathon of the tv series today, and showed both the original miniseries and The Final Battle yesterday, in anticipation.

Re-watched the first 3 episodes yesterday on SyFy channel. Remakes always worry me.

    I expected more :dunno:

E! said it was the best pilot ever, but I definitely can not agree with that.

I liked it. I think it was a bit disjointed and things seemed to happen a bit too fast without explanation, but I guess that's what's needed nowadays when people don't have much of an attention span at all.

I find new shows these days either start too quickly or take too long to get off the ground... hard to find a middle ground, I would imagine.

I still think Lost had the best pilot :o

It looks like it had great ratings, the best of any new drama this season:

Leapin' lizards! ABC's 'V' premiere lands big ratings

They came, they saw, they conquered primetime.

ABC's "V" premiere was Tuesday's highest-rated program in the adult demo, cracking usual leader CBS' drama-series choke-hold on the evening.

"V" was seen by 14.3 million viewers and had a 5.2 rating among adults 18-49.

That's the biggest scripted series premiere rating for a freshman show this fall. And particularly impressive for a show that's self-starting ABC's lineup (it's the highest-rated 8 p.m. drama series debut since ... ABC's "Lost," actually). Compared to the "Shark Tank" average in the time period, "V" was up a rather dizzying 213%.

"V" bested tough competition from "NCIS" (20.2 million, 4.3), which nonetheless ranked as the evening's most-watched show. The alien invasion drama gained 6% from its first half hour to its second.

They only have another 3 episodes made, are shaking up the showmaking crew and won't have any new ones until March though. :noes:

    I just hope it lasts.
