thats the word. Command got their anals probed by DoD analysts probably
Heard that on the radio. Does that mean you just can't go on Facebook on USMC network computers, or does that also mean you can't join the USMC network on Facebook?
never been able to get on those sites on a DoD computer anyway
Yea why is this a big deal, they have been blocked on most MIL networks for years.
Way to get the with the times marines!
I remember my shop being ordered by our chief not to surf any non work related sites AT ANY TIME on the ship. When we found out myspace had actually been blocked...i typed it in and got a counseling/3week ban from the computers when my chief had our logs pulled.
I have OT at work, so Im happy
Oh, and because we're the G2, we get an unrestricted internet machine too (for "research" )
I was happy when i got to Kuwait and found out yahoo mail and OT worked...
three week ban from internet on a ship
I could have sworn it's been like that for almost 2 years now......
I know Im a bit late but the ban is on the NMCI network. Though with waivers some people can be allowed access to the site for "unit pages". I.E 1 MarDiv can have a page, 1/1 can have a page etc etc. And someone in that unit can update it at work
Army allows some SNS...such as facebook...but they are currently coming out with new guidelines soon.
It is a rule that you can't visit those sites on a USCG computer... but you physically can... just don't get caught.
I thought it has always been MC policy not to surf SNS'. 99-04 (first enlistment) , we got a 30 day account ban for surfing unauthorized sites.
What amaze me still, is how servicemen still email/surf porn/soft porn. Then they wonder how they got busted.
I know right, internet barely fucking worked anyway
I can access Facebook at work on the NMCI
as long as OT works amirite?
This man speaks the truth
I havent been able to get on myspace or shit like that in years. Up until last month we were able to get on OT and stuff by taking off the LAN settings, which they have since fixed. Now I sit at work bored as fuck
network guys at my base look for proxys now, its article 15 for officers here...we had 2 crew members on alert looking at spanish porn on the computers through a proxy and got caught.
I'm the network guy. There are ways...
