I'm a freshmen in college. I was planning on enlisting in the Marine Reserves and going to boot this summer. I got this email and it got me thinking. I may have posted something about this awhile ago, but now I'm seriously considering it.

I got an email from an officer selection officer about a USMC internship this summer. It is called Platoon Leaders Class. Its a paid internship that lets me take OCS this summer for 6 weeks. If I successfully complete it and complete getting my degree, I will be offered a commission as an officer when I graduate. I get $400 a week plus room and board and transportation.

The only thing that is holding me back is I wanted to experience being enlisted and going through boot camp. Anyone have anything to say about this? If it matters, my major is criminal justice and I wanted to be in some sort of law enforcement for my long term career.

  2. I was considering this too however I joined ROTC instead. I don't regret my decision.

if u enlist as a reservist chances are u will deploy which will prevent u from completing ur degree in a timely fashion. having the enlisted experience can be fun but ur in college so i would say go to plc and commission as an officer.

complete your degree first if you plan on going to be commisiond then enlist then goto ocs it may be long but you'll feel the enlisted side before the brass side
