Using the 5.1 audio from my mobo....?

    How do i go about hooking this up to my home theater receiver? I have the onkyo txsr 500.

    it is setup from the mobo with front/rear/subwoofer headphone sized jacks...

    any ideas?

    Did your MB come with a SPDIF output dongle, and does you receiver accept SPDIF? This would be the easiest.

    Based on the fact that I don't even know what an "SPDIF output dongle" is, I doubt it has one...

    Doesn't mention anything about it in the manual.... :shrug:

    The SPDIF connector is just a single RCA jack. Most MB audio I've seen that support digital output comes with a some sort of dongle for the SPDIF connector that plugs into the motherboard and attaches to one of the card slots on the back of your case.

    Or, SPDIF can also come in an optical cable -- look for a funny looking square plug that you might have as well
