Looking to do some camping this winter and I was considering getting a military sleeping bag over a retail bag to save a few $$'s. Are they worth a shit or should i just go ahead and get a slumberjack or something?

You can find some of the older extreme cold weather bags for cheap, but they are extremely bulky and a pain in the ass to carry around unless you just plan on pulling up to a campsite with your car. The new 3 piece GI sleep system is the best, it has two different weight bags and a gore-tex cover that can be used seperately or you can combine them all together for really cold weather. They run about $250 bucks.
