It looks like all of them could be purchased for about 5k... 01-03 years.

What are some pro's and con's of these bikes?

Any reason why you'd pick one over the other?

any feedback or opinions are welcome..

    thanks

As long as they haven't been beat to shit any of those 3 are excellent bikes. I personally would probably go with the Gixxer just cause out of the 3 its the one that feels most comfortable to me.

Anyone has any insights about other things? ride quality? reliability? comfort? speed? anything that one excels in compared to the others? anything that's a common flaw or drawback?

My personal feeling is that the best overall bike of the three is the F4i.

Franted the R6 and the Gixxer would slaughter it (well, not slaughter, but on paper be faster) then the F4i's. But for a day to day bike to live with, and have fun with, and do some spritied performance riding, the F4i cant be beat. The Gixxer and the R6 are much more supersport oriented, are a little more high strung, and have slightly harsher ergo (at least for me).

Best to sit on each one, and see for yourself which fits best, and go from there.

Either way, you really cant go wrong, they are all fantastic bikes.

Gixxer has more power than the f4i, less than the R6 I believe. Gixxer has a stock dampener. F4i is the least sporty looking of the crew.

Blue R6's are like the fuckin' plague...

    Gixxer FTW.

Whenever I would mention that year of the R6, everyone would tell me "carbs :ugh:" and completely steer my away from it. Though I have heard issues about them having transmission problems and real rough 2nd or 3rd gears? Yamaha won't fix it. They do look like sex, though. [edit - that's for the 99-02 ones] 03's are a little more user friendly.

From what I hear F4i's are simply awesome bikes all the way around. Can't really go wrong.

    Not fond of Gixxers.

This is true. 99-02, the R6 bikes had terrible issues with the trannies.

In 03, this was fixed...the 03+ are awesome bikes. I'm gonna be picking up an 03 R6 next weekend hopefully. :bigthumb:

best street is the Honda, but not as sporty as the others

if you get yamaha, get the '03 with FI and corrected design flaw in the tranny

    Which is a better buy?

I found an 01 Gixxer for 4k with 2 bros exhaust, frame sliders, new tires, but dent on gas tank. 7000 miles.. 4 grand.

    04 R6.. exhaust .. 6300 miles... 5 grand... slight scrape on fairing

also found an 02 gixxer for 5k...

seems like R6's are the better deals out of the bunch :dunno:

All sound like fairly decent prices, just check them over thoroughly to make sure thats the only damage. I'de try to talk them down a few hundred on the damaged ones. Sit on them, ride them if possible see what feels best to you.

    test them all out.

of the three i think the F4i is the most comfortable (except the seat) of the three.

    but i may be biased.

Wouldn't you compare the RR with the others, as opposed to F4i? Just to even out the playing field :dunno:

03 was the first year. With the 07 being released very soon, prices should be fairly reasonable. I picked up my 03 a few months ago for 5k and it was in very good shape with frame sliders, spools, akro exhaust, pc3, and cw fe.

Ride whatever feels comfy and is cosmetically appealing.

Performance will be somewhat the same, noone even really rides the bike to the full potential, especially being a noob. Go with bodystyle, comfort.
Some are higher than others. I rode an f4i and a r6, both felt like fucking nothing, and not stable at all like i'd tip over. But i've been used to riding a gixxer.

but gixxer = more tq usually and more meaty. If ur bigger, go for a gixxer, r6 if you're small. F4i middle ground to smaller.

f4i is not like a r6 or gixxer at all.

banana seat and more street oriented

oh and r6 is more flickable than gixxer, but more edgy and needs a damper

I would go for the Honda my self. When did they start doing the exhaust under the seat?
