Theoretically a single usb root can support up to 127 Devices. Now what if you daisy chained several usb hubs together connected to a root and then plugged in 30 Jump drives. What would the system do once it ran out of available drive letters? What would it start assigning to those devices?

It would probably not assign them letters. You could then assign the rest to NTFS mount points.
