I don't know what happened with Win98SE's plug and play capabilities after I reformatted my hard drive. Everytime I plug in a USB device, say for example a digital camera, it asks for the device drivers. This never happened before; I used to always plug it in and get it to work without installing anything.

Anybody know how to fix this?

Win98 never had USB support. You just had your drivers installed before.

Honestly, ditch 98. It's fucking useless. Get XP, or if you don't want to spend money and like OSen that don't suck ass, get Linux.

    Win98 does have USB support.

This isn't a solution to my problem, but thanks anyways.

It is a solution. Windows 98 is worthless.

and, Windows 98 has crap USB support, if you plug something in and it ask for drivers, then you need to install the drivers. If it didnt ask for the drivers before, they were already installed. Reformatting got rid of the drivers.

no, win98 never supported plug-n-play USB drivers. Always needed to install drivers for them.

Hmmm. I remember when I first got my digital camera and plugged it in. Never asked for drivers, just detected it on the spot.

Well, what about USB flash drive? It doesn't come with drivers.

My USB flashdrive is a Edge DiskGo! USB 2.0. It should be backwards compatible with USB 1.0

Don't worry, Win98 is not my primary OS, it's just on my old computer. My newer PC has XP.
