I take my laptop everywhere to help troubleshoot servers and other PCs. Most times, the machine im troubleshooting is headless. What would be really cool is a device I can hook up to my laptop via USB that would let me use my laptop's k/v/m, except perhaps running in an app similar to remote desktop.

Anyone make such a device? Obviously a search for something like usb kvm would be fruitless...

I don't know of a device that can do it like you want. There is some software but that requires the machine you are troubleshooting is actually working and the software is installed on it as well as your laptop. There are network KVM's. I guess if you found one small enough you could carry with you that could be an option, but if it is PS2 it's quite possible you would have to reboot the server to get the K and M to work.

Hmm interesting idea... Small IP KVM with a cross over cable to the laptop. That would definitely work, however not as conveniently as USB would.
