    Hi guys,

A friend of mine has an older pc. It's a 400mhz celeron, win98, etc. She has a usb port on the computer, so i'm assuming it's win98se and i'm assuming it's a 1.0 usb port. She wants to purchase a scanner. The scanner she wants says usb 1.1 - 2.0. Will it still work on her pc?

    Thanks!

You can always buy another USB port if it doesn't

I thought USB was backwards compatible, but if the package says it needs >=1.1 then I dunno.

one of the usb 1.1 pdfs spec that there is no guarantee that legacy usb hardware or cabling will work. There are major enough changes to the hardware and especially the cabling to merit using the proper version of usb with your system
