I've exhausted every resource I know so if you have any experience with this kind of problem please help me fix it.

Couple of weeks ago a really bad storm caused a power outage. The next morning, after resetting all the electrical devices in my room I noticed the monitor on my pc wouldn't power on when I boot the pc. Keep in mind that all the devices in my room are hooked up to surge protectors and I have at least 4/5 outlets so I knew it couldn't have been damaged, but I tested it on other monitors and the problem was clearly with the pc.

I changed the system one by one trying to locate the problem. Changed the psu, the video card, and just restarting till I got a visual. Sometimes one of those three things would work but the pc would either hang or the screen would turn off once I got to the login prompt.

Skip to this week. I bought a new board/new card/new ram. everything has been changed except my two hdds and I'M HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. Can anyone tell me how this is possible??

did you test the monitor on other pc's?

Did you reuse old cables for the monitor or did you get new ones?

Perhaps a cable went bad, but the power surge was a considence. Other than that i'd guess the monitor is fucked up.

disconnect both hdds and see if it'll boot to bios, and then to a livecd.

I've seen hdds that would keep an entire system from turning on.

I do this for a living. Don't overcomplicate something. Start simple, and work your way up.

So basically you have an entirely new computer and it still won't boot?

Try moving it to a different room.

Is the monitor cable good? Have you tried both the digital and analog cables (assuming it has them)? Does the screen work on another computer?

yeah it works on the pc I'm using now. I ruled that out by testing the broken one on other monitors.

Part of me still belives there could be something with the Video card... My one PC does this every now and then because its a picky SOB... Its also plugged into a 32" LCD HDTV, but anyway, I always have to plug in my monitor from my PC into the back of the TVPC and reset the video driver back to the digital plug instead of it trying to access the analog plug on the videocard...

did you "TRY" a different videocard, or could be that the motherboard could have been shocked... I had that happen to mine once where it would sound like it was running but I couldnt see anything. at that point i took it to a PC tech fridn of mine to "decharge"??? it... then it worked fine again...
