And mounted on my XT with lens hood installed :mamoru:

Both taken with my P+S obviously btw :o

Overall I'm very impressed, the build quality is obvious as soon as you pick it up, manual focusing while in AF mode is sweet, and it's quite sharp from the few pics I had time to take. Peeling paint on my patio for example:

I'm going to take it into work tonight and play with it some more

You can autofocus on something, but still turn the focusing ring and change the focus. I just thought it was a cool feature, I'm sure some of the more experienced guys here can tell you when it would come in handy, if not I'll figure it out when I get there :o

when you have a certain autofucus spot selected and something happens in a different focus plane but you want to keep the same composition rather than move the camera to aim at the other subject...

    it's a great feature.

can you take some pics with the kit lens @ 18mm and 55mm, one with the L @ 70mm, and one with the L @ 200mm? All the same picture/distance of course.

Befor i buy it, im just curious to see how substantial the zoom is. And if I should get a 1.4 converter or maybe even the 70-300 IS.

    also, handhold a shot @ 200mm for us :)

I love my 70-200F4, my only complaint was I always found myself wanting more zoom

    a 1.4xTC helped, but ultimately I ended up buying a 100-400 :o

Really though, longer range = longer lens usually. I'm no optics expert so I can't tell you the technical reason, but that's a general rule.

Really good lens. I sold mine to G33k but loved it while I had it.

Naa I mean the actual glass. My Nikon 55-200 is far far shorter than that and not as fat either.
