Got my Bulgy 74 kit in today :wiggle:

Looks like these are the only two parts I need to demill :dunno:

It's a virgin US made (chrome lined?) barrel, so I'll need to do some work there.
All of the little internal parts are still bagged. The wood looks like it's in pretty decent shape too.

Thanks. As you know, I don't know much about AKs, but everything looks to be in good shape. Is that really all that needs to be demilled? I thought there would be a lot more.

 Except that I'll have to drill some stuff out for the barrel, since there are no holes.

Looks like there's the handguard retaining slot drilled. Looks like just the barrel pin, front sight block, and gas block are the only other things.

I would line them up then put a small tack weld so they stay in place while you drill. After you're done you can knock off the tack. I've never built off a virgin barrel but that's how I would suggest doing it.

have yet to finish one of those rusty ones from last year. everything is done on it except putting it back together (trunion to barrel). everything is all riveted, so just assembly and refinishing. can't decide if I want to park or just use gunkote again though. probably just go with gunkote because I have a can of it and I dont feel like parking that many and those large of parts.

    wouldn't mind this though: https://www.apexgunparts.com/produc...d/850?osCsid=fb1a73d27ca8de543543aec4af12db6a

I'd never do one that TS is doing, with no barrel. fuckkkkkk that shit

I'm considering one of their Romy G or Bulgarian 74 kits with a new barrel to turn into a sidefolder. I want to see how zumin3k does first though :o

Yeah, this thing was $80. It passes the bullet test but the bore is pretty dark. I just cleaned all the cosmo off and it actually doesn't look too bad.

was going to do it here, but didnt realize we were going to get the storm and all this cold weather. so I am going to my parents house where my old man has a 50 or 100k (cant remember) BTU heated garage

you're more than welcome to come over and help, drink beer and smoke cigs, but it's just north of Madison. Would probably be an hour and a half drive for you :dunno:
