Bay Area Crew. I live in Hayward now, work in Fostery City and grew up there as well.

well I pretty much finished building it this morning

It still needs some work, the compensator isnt top dead center so I need to buy a barrel tool to fix that, also some sanding needs to be done so the handguards fit perfectly.

It took a fuckload of work to get parts to work smoothly/flawlessly but that's to be expected I guess on a brand new rifle. I also got a titanium firing pin put in, instead of the shitty steel one that came with the kit.

Now off to the range

  11. Nice rifle, but titanium firing pins are not a good idea.

Here's an Armalite tech note about them:
http://www.armalite.com/images/Tech...ium Firing Pins ArmaLite considers Gener….pdf

They should have talked more about #4 in there. Titanium is more prone to deformation and chipping than steel.

What parts did you have issue fitting? If it took a fuck load of work something was wrong, it should have taken about 30 minutes. Nice looking rifle though!

You probably won't find much love for titanium firing pins. The shitty steel pin is great.

When I say work flawlessly, I mean all the packing grease needed to be cleaned off, and it needed to be lubed thoroughly, after some oil stone work; nothing unexpected really. But yeah, one of the rolling pins wasn't manufactured very well, it was difficult getting the bolt release rolling pin in place, i broke two of my roommates punches lol. It's in there now, works fine just was a bitch. (Mainly because I forgot the spring that goes behind it and had to take it out, and put it in a second time )

That's interesting about the firing pin, my roommate had an extra one and I just figured it was better. I'll look into that.

the rule of thumb for roll pins is you put them in once. if you have to take it out for whatever reason, put in a new one.

I'd agree, but I didn't have a new one, and the problem with this one is it's girth was too large, so putting it in the 2nd time felt about right anyways. It's definitely not falling out or anything lol
