I have a dell dimension 4600. I have only got 256MB of ram and want to upgrade to 2X512MB sticks. I understand I need 184 pin type stick but it is recommened I use low density with a dell. Does this really matter?

Also what else do I need to look out for when buying memory?
    TIA

If you want to be 100% certain of getting the right part, get it from Crucial.com using their memory selector. But you should be fine with any good brand name pair of PC2700 DDR DIMMs. Be sure to get a matched pair. Newegg and others sell matched pairs of DIMMs designed to be used together in dual channel setups. You'll probably have to pull that 256MB module or add another 256 to maintain dual channel mode once you add the 512's.
