upgrading laptop graphics card?

    Say, my laptop currently has ati mobility radeon x600...would it be possible to get the x800 and swap it out?

    I have HP zd8000 series btw.

    Doubtful. I don't know the specifics of your latop, but the vast majority have the video card built into the motherboard. If yours does have an upgradable video card, you would need to buy a special version of the card for your laptop. The standard desktop video cards would not work.

    bah. thanks. Guess I'll just look into a dedicated (and expensive) gaming laptop later.

    odds are no ... iv heard you can upgrade some dells .. but most laptops the 3d chip is hard wired to the mobo ... so unless you you are amazingly good at soddering and even then .. forget about it

    Or just do your main gaming on less expensive and more powerful desktop computers. :hsugh:

    I live in a one room place...not much room for desktops anywhere. besides, I like to be able to just fold it up and go and play my shit elsewhere.

    If your laptop has MXM slots you can upgrade them. You just have to make sure you buy a videocard with the same MXM slot (3 types) as well as make sure the powersupply is large enough to power it without a hassle.
