well, apparently its about as dangerous as replacing your battery(http://www.2guysamacandawebsite.com/article.php?id=588). i realize that the physical dimensions of the hard drive are important, i'm looking for someone who has actually done this before and can offer me first-hand advice/point me in the direction of a reliable ipod hard drive retailer

Check out the ads in an issue of Macworld. A few companies advertise drives for all the generations.

ive done it from one ipod to another

(STORY: friends ipod hard drive was giving him an error. some random kid left the same model ipod, same HD size and all at his place from a party. i cracked em both open, did a switch-a-roo. the kid got him ipod back and it didnt work, he thought he musta fucked it up at the party, haha)

CLIFFS: ive switched hard drives from same model to same model with no problems at all
