    If you've got the money, the E6600 is a great chip and should be pretty inexpensive now. You have to find old stock though, newegg doesn't list them anymore.

    Well what kind of video card and ram you got? It doesn't look like too old of a mobo, so you may be able to get away with it.

    2 gig ram and 8800gt, ill upgrade the mobo if its most cost effective in the long run.

    PD 3GHz ain't horrid, broseph. Upgrading your hard drive to something faster (maybe a RAID1 or a good SSD, if you have money to burn) and maxing out the RAM will do you more good than a CPU upgrade at this point.

    Remember, CPUs spend 99% of their lives waiting for the user to tell them to do something and waiting for data from the hard drive. You can't do anything about your slow, carbon-based ass, but you can at least get data to the CPU faster.

    WIN. Unless you are going to throw a video card in with a new cpu, the hdd is a better upgrade
