I have a Service Grade CMP Garand and I'm thinking about upgrading it. I can get it worked on by Fulton Armory and expect a 1-1.5 MOA rifle at the end of the process. That's pretty nice. I don't do a lot of paper punching anymore, this would be a hunting rifle or something to use in the Obama Riots.

Is there any other rifle I should consider? I'm just not 100% that sinking a grand into it is the right solution. I live in a free state so I can buy anything that's available on the market. I travel to Canada from time to time, so it's nice that the Garand is legal in Canada.

Is that my best move? Fulton Armory, have them do the full package, and just deal with the $1000 price tag?

There are other shops out there than Fulton...other places are probably cheaper too.

Try Warbird or Dean's too. I forget, I know there are a few reputable M1 smiths out there, but it's been a few months since I paid any real attention to them.
