    notice no Sherk either?

i guess BJ hasn't established himself in any division yet. one LW win against Pulver isn't going to put him on the map, and before that, he hasn't won a fight in almost 2 years

how he should be ranked above any of the top 4 would be beyond me. apparently beating an awful tim sylvia and no one else catapults you to top 3

matt serra's ranked #1 MW for getting a split decision over Lytle and capturing the belt from GSP

couture has the belt as well, which gives you more street cred in the rankings i suppose :o

I guess for nothing more than more minutes spent in the weight class Couture should get it :mamoru:

but dont forget, there is only the UFC 170, no pride, i think that would explain the reasoning of why Serra would be #1 and couture wouldn't.

true, but Kikuchi's on the list too for the 167lb class in SHOOTO too. they don't have as strong as a div though

Aoki is the 167lb SHOOTO champ still, right? i wonder when his next title defense is...

How is Couture not ranked that high, ya he has only had 1 fight recently in the HW division but look at his record of who he has beat. Sure it was awhile ago but it was some of the top contenders in the world.

i still cant see how they have serra at 1 for welterweight. he has a belt yes but hell Hendo has 2 and he is listed at 4 and 5.

he beat the #1. there are no other major orgs with major talent that could conflict with the 170 rankings.

You could argue that GSP should still be #1 since he's had more big wins in the recent past, but fact is Serra beat the #1.

If he had beat some of the weaker fighters to get to Sylvia and not had the record he has, then beat him he wouldnt be ranked #5, he is ranked by his previous fights even tho they are not recent.

you aren't very sharp are ya?

HW across the boards and orgs is open for debate. 170 really isnt. THe only arguables are hughes and GSP. Hughes has a big recent win over Penn and a loss to GSP. GSP has a big win over hughes and a recent win over Penn, and a loss to Serra. Serra has a recent win over GSP and a dec over Lytle.

As I said, GSP is the obvious choice if someone wanted to argue not putting serra at #1. He has 2 huge wins and 1 huge loss. Serra has one huge win and no losses. I think its painfully obvious how Serra would be ranked #1, and it is obvious how someone could consider GSP #1, but if you want to keep using retard logic then be my guest.

    no. that is just idiotic.

Dan henderson should hold the #1 spot for middle weight IMO.

If you're even going to put him in the rankings.

um, no. i highly doubt they took into consideration his fights at HW 5+ years ago

BJ has an impressive record, but he's still not on the list because who has he beaten recently?

He use to be on the list because of his record then he didnt beat anyone so they took him off :wavey:
Who has Tito beat in the past 2 years, he is ranked due to his record not his recent victories

there are some people like Hendo who should be ranked higher, and there are people like Lindland and Penn, who are ranked because of their abilities rather than their record

however, the list still should pertain to recent records, hence why i questioned Tito for being on the list in the first place. otherwise, minus well put Bas and Royce Gracie on the list. it should be a snapshot of the fighters, not a historical record
