He seems to be the fighter that no one knows what's going on with. A lot of that has to do with the fact that he is stuck in legal issues with old management and is not allowed to speak about what is going on.

Here's the most recent interview he has done. If you are too lazy to read it all i will post cliffs, but it is a really good read.

yeah, i think its at least a couple weeks old, which i dont liek posting old info, but it seems liek this interview just flew under everyone's radar since it didnt have SD exposure.

he really has one of the most complete games out there, i am just curious if strength is going to be a major factor in his success at HW or even at LHW.

Ummmm why? When it comes to ground game there are not many better than Lloyd and Lister while good is not one of them.

never been a big fan of irvin and i think some of the baits lister uses are unmatched. And it is very conducive to brandon's style. just personal preference, the dude is gonna be a top ranked no matter who his grappling coach is.

    Honest question:

The guy has beaten NOBODY worth mentioning. (Sorry a washed up out of shape Mir doesnt count) Why is he held in such high regard? Because he crouches like a lion?

    Mir ias a worthless win
Silva was a good win. He was previously (about a year and a half before hand) fighting for the #1 contender spot and he subbed him, hadnt happened since his first fight in MMA.
He smashed through the first cans he was given.

but its mostly his credentials. When Rob Kaman hails you as one of the best strikers he;s ever worked with, and Randy Couture thinks your greco roman is top notch, and Dean Lister and Lloyd Irvin train you in bjj, you are all around more sound than 99.99% of the MMA world.

I agree he is less proven than everyone is giving him credit for, but there is no denying that he has a shit ton of talent.

Silva is nothing more than verbal hype. He was only a number 1 contender because the UFC wanted him to sound that way. He was mediocre at best.

and? point was that Sylvia couldnt finish him off, Aleks couldnt finish him, Kongo couldnt finish him, but Vera did in a matter of no time.

    anythign else to nitpick?

That he lost to each of those guys? How about that? He hasnt beat anyone even remotely close to top 10, so how could he be a top contender?

I like Vera alot and I think hes got a ton of talent/potential but I really dont see him dominating the Heavyweight division. If he drops down to 205 I think he could definitely have a shot at someday becoming a dominant champion even with all the fresh new talent the UFC LHW division has now.

I just want him to fight top talent, that's all. I'd be happy to call him one of the best, but personally I think he's 3-4 top 10 wins away from that.
