GUN unusual problem I have

I've never shot a rifle before (but I'm getting that Garand). Anyway, my problem is that I'm right handed, but my left eye is dominate. When I squint, it closes my right eye. I can't squint my left eye closed, so that I can use my right eye to look down the sites.

so, what should I do? shoot left handed (uncomfortable), or buy an eye patch and put it over my left eye when I shoot?

learn to close that eye. i used to not be able to wink each eye individually and i fuckin practiced, as stupid as it sounds, so that i could do it.

the eye is a muscle afterall.

some folks will say you should shoot lefty since your left eye is dominant and apparently you can acquire targets and focus quicker with your dominant eye.

i myself am a lefty with my right eye being dominant. i still shoot lefty with my left eye and i do just fine at the 600yd Garand competitions.

go with whatever combo makes YOU feel the most comfortable.

I have the same thing with being right handed but my left eye is dominant but I can squint both independantly. Its kinda annoying with rifles but no big deal with handguns. Just learn to close your left eye.

Yeah, both eyes open FTW. I find it far less stressful on the face but some people have to train their mind to focus on one eye and not the other, esp if you are sighting through the weaker one.

I have also heard of people shooting right handed but still sighting with their left eye. I don't know how hard that is on various different rifles and I know it sounds a bit strange but it may be worth a try.... :dunno:
