My brand new 30-06 deer/North American hunting rifle. It's a lefty Remington 700, walnut stock, 4+1, 9 on the classic scale. It's got a Nikon Buckmaster 3-9x scope with the bullet drop compensator on it and a Remington leather cobra sling. The whole package weighs under 9 lbs I think.

This is my old AR-15 with the new Aimpoint, LaRue mount, and front/rear backup sights by Troy. I also threw a 2-pt Blue Force Victory II sling on it. :run:

I'm using the Rem 700 as soon as deer season starts, and the AR-15 in a course I started last night. We started first with pistol, but we will progress to carbine and then both together. Awesome.

Shoot that 700 and see what you think.

If you wanna try tinkering around with it, I'd start at ditching those rings (look like Leupy adjustable rears - they will fuck you eventually). Then, I'd look into sealing/bedding that stock if you want to keep with the wood theme. Wood conducts moisture well, and will swell and shrink depending on atmospheric conditions...... This will cause inconsistencies in various pressures affecting the action/barrel proper, which will be realized downrange by strange/unexplained fliers.

    Good looking gun!

I'm in Kansas city for the class.

As far as sealing the rifle goes, won't I be okay if I just rezero after it's been awhile? And those scope rings are nice pieces of hardware. I think they are luepy but that's a decent brand if you ask me. Have you had problems? How will they go about fucking me in the end?
