:/ I have it really bad lately and I've never been like this before. I'll unplug and turn off my hair straightener and walk out of the room. Seconds later I'll run back in the room to make sure I REALLY turned it off. I could do it about 3 times. It's driving me absolutely insane. It's not just that either. I do it with multiple things.

advice? Please and thank you :ugh::ugh:

I go back to check on my flat iron :mamoru:

Explain the other things you do, that's not a good example.

Erm I'll make sure everything in my room is unplugged. I'll make sure the windows are sufficiently shut more than half way. I'll make sure my teeth are clean like a zillion times. Before bed I have to make sure the alarm on my cell phone is set five kajillion times. I check like ten times for spiders in my room too before I go to bed.

    I feel absolutely ridiculous.

Have you tried to stop yourself? And if so, how did you feel?

If I try to stop myself I just keep thinking about it. I mean I know like I turned my straightener off or that my alarm is on, but I just get this huge sense of security by checking.

The problem is 'you don't trust yourself

The solution is 'not to care' about it.

Instead of going back to check for sure you turned it off say to yourself ' even if i left it on, i don't care if the fricking house will be set on fire by that device, im going to do something else.

Constantly say to yourself 'i don't care'. Because the only thing you can do with OCD is pushing on the brakes in your brain very hard, every time it happens, and condition yourself in that its 'not' a necessity.

I've been doing good today. Instead of checking things I've been replacing it with my language studies. Every time I even think of it I make myself read a chapter or something.
