you have to fix boot files.
you need chkdsk and fixboot. unfortunately, these are on the XP installation disk.

Any where I can make a copy of this disk?

Yes, Ive figured out I needed to fix the boot files. Incorrect byte in one of the files.

LOL, in the midst of a semester, worst time for it to happen.

the windows disk? anything about piracy isn't allowed here

I'm sure you can get an XP install disc from your school's IT department.

He can make all the CD copies he wants; it's not piracy if he doesn't try to use more copies of Windows than he has licenses for.
