I am about as noob as it comes with cell phones....I use them to text and to make phone calls....outside of that I have not a clue

Is there a way to unlock my motorola v551 so I can erase the locked items like ringtones, and movies, and shit I dont need on there?

    THanks in advance!

Unlocking won't do that. Unlocking refers to eliminating the SIM provider subsidy lock allowing a phone only to be used by a certain GSM carrier.

To nuke the items you don't want, use P2kManager.

I think you would need to flash the phone using some type of bootloader.
You can reasearch this and perhaps you can achieve it by yourself.
I dont think there is a Motorola bootloader version that comes without looked items such as the video, ringtones etc.
This is just Motorola's way of operating and I really dont think you will be able to get rid of the locked items.
The only locked items flashing the phone will get rid of are those that were put there my your provider.

You need a program like p2kman. There, you can edit the attributes to unlock those files, then you can safely erase them.
