I've used something called "Fairgame" which didn't work....are there any free programs that will allow me to remove the DRM from songs i bought from iTunes?

I think Fairgame has been broken now with the latest iTunes versions (back in versioin 6 is the last time I remember it working). You can still burn the MP3s to a CD and then rip the CD if you really need to. There use to be some way around it by bringing it into iMovie but I don't know if it still works. May want to search around for it.

If you burn the songs to a cd then re-rip it'll be a Transcode. Meaning you'll loose lots of quality. this is bad, unless you don't care how music sounds. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transcode

plus itunes downloads sound like poo in the 128aac format. i haven't heard the higher quality bitrates tho.

    :bowdown:Lame encoding FTW http://wiki.hydrogenaudio.org/index.php?title=LAME

    there's even a itunes-lame plugin

I'm not a fan of Lame at this point. Files are just way too big. I can't imagine how much room a 500GB MP3 collection would take up in Lame. On top of that, I can't use my iPod or iPhone to play them anyways.

dunno any software for a mac, but on pc theres tunebite, tried it a few months ago and it worked just fine.

itunes now sells songs that are DRM free and higher bitrate, called itunes+ or something. 1.39 each

All of the Mp3s on my 5th Gen ipod are lame encoded V0. they all sound great!

How are the files big if you encode -V2(192vbr)?

iTunes Plus music was lowered to 99¢ now also wasn't it?

Try QTFairUse. I've tried several DRM stripping programs, this seems to work the best.
