ultraportable notebooks

    whats a notebook with these sorta specs under 1500 rite now?

    -around 4 lbs and under
    -1GHz and above
    -384 RAM and above
    -no bigger than 12" monitor

    other hardware like hard drive and optical drive not concerned with rite now.

    Check out dell x300 and the d400. Those two models should be around your specs close to that price. But the cd rom is external. I know Asus makes a notebook which is compact and has a built in optical drive. I dont know the specs or the price.

    apples sure do look nice. but i have to say that, after using both PC and macs for a while, i still prefer PC systems even tho the macs look a hella lot better. just my pref...



    ill check out those Asus. thanks!

    Not sure if you can get a tablet under $1500, but if you can I'd go for it.

    Fujitsu lifebooks are really small and really cool, but the cheapest they go is 1799.

    yea i noe man! fujitsu is hella expensive! for that money i might just buy an IBM instead

    i like them ASUS S5N and M5N. what does anyone here think?

    i was looking @ the dell flyer today and they had a nice pentium m 1.7ghz, 12.1 widescreen monitor for $2000 CAD. definately a great laptop for students.

    $2000 is a lil out of the budget for me...

    $2000 CAD (canadian) is quite a bit less in american. around $1500.

    ooo sorry sorry i didnt notice the CAD part :p

    hmm i think i once played around with the specs of the 700m and it came out kinda expensive. neone noe nething about the ASUS i mentioned, or the Toshiba Portege 100 or something like that, or Toshibas in general?

    edit: these are dimensions of the ASUS M5N,
    Dimension: 27.5 x 23.5 x 2.1(min.)-2.98 (max.) cm (WxDxH,)

    what makes that range of height? is that the difference between having the laptop closed and having it opened?
