    I need the zoom

I’m looking to get a new digital camera. I have a canon S200 (2 megapixel 2x/3x zoom) want more zoom.
The perfect camera for me would have:
    10x+ optical zoom
    4.0+ megapixels
    AA batteries
    Compact Flash memory
    $500 -/+

I have a bunch of compact flash cards of different sizes and a NiMH AA battery charger. If I got a camera without those two items I’d have to purchase additional stuff.

My top choice is the Canon PowerShot S1 IS the only drawback being it’s 3.2 megapixels.

Does anyone have experience with other ultra-zoom point and shoot cams.
    Any suggestions??

I have a Nikon 5700 for sale if your were interested.

that is a thorough review of the camera. It is an 8x optical zoom with a 4x digi zoom.

    It does take compact flash.

It has its own rechargeable battery.

Great camera and I have a few extras that would go with it. Let me know if your interested.

Have a look at the Olympus C-750 or 765 UZ.
10x optical zoom lens, 4 MP, uses 4 AA batteries, full manual settings, around your preferred price range.

I have been using a C-740 which also has 10x zoom for a month or so now and am pretty happy with its indoor and outdoor capabilities.

Canon Powershot S1 IS. 10x optical zoom, image stabilized lens, full resolution video, cf memory, 400-500 pics on NIMH batteries, full manual and auto modes. It's one of my new favorite cameras to sell, everyone loves it

3.2 is more than you'd need. unless you'll be doing 11 x 14's or bigger, and with a 10x optical you probally won't be cropping much, i fail to see how 3.2 isn't enough. That camera with a good lens and a smaller pixel I would put ahead of anyother mega zoom cameras, with the exception of the panasonic fz10. the minolta's, olympus's kodak, nikon's all may have 1 or 2 different, maybe better features, but none would be as good all around. do you really thing canon would spend that much on research and have it be a flop by being only 3.2 megapixels? the a70 is the 2nd most purchased camera in history
