    Go, go go!!!

    1) animal traps for small game (rabbit, squirrel, etc.) (www.mcmaster.com , www.northerntool.com)

    2) seeds (organic, NOT hybrid, so you can harvest seeds from the fruits and use them)

    3) rifles, shotguns, handguns, plenty of ammo :rl:

    4) rollable / foldable solar panel for charging batteries and battery-powered devices (laptop, cell phone, flashlights, radios, etc.) (www.altenergystore.com)

    5) home-base and portable radios capable of at least 8 mi. range

    6) compass, hand-held GPS

    7) non-perishable canned foods

    8) chemicals to "bleach" unknown or tainted water to make it potable

    9) small and large fuel cans. Keep fresh by dumping into your vehicle and refreshing every so-often

    10) motor oil (can be mixed 50:1 with home-brewed methanol or ethanol in a pinch to use in an internal combustion engine); also gear lube and other automotive fluids

    11) military-style 1st Aid Kit + extra "basic" stuff (aspirin, rubbing alcohol, bandages, iodine, etc.)

    12) fishing gear (now, how do I attach a fishing net to my Jetski?)

    13) salt (for preserving foods for extended storage or canning)

    14) tent (if you need to travel to make it to a safe location)

    15) road maps, especially if you need to travel to get to a safe location (most common routes may be blocked or manned by toll trolls)

    16) topographical maps of your safe property and surrounding area

    17) "quick-fix-it" tools: duct tape, super glue, adjustable wrench, basic hand tools and/or "swiss army knife", tire repair plugs & patches

    18) pocket field guides to edible plants or flora / fauna in general with edible plant guides

    100) booze and smokes (sorry guys, it's just not high on my list)

let's keep adding to the list!

Once it gets longer, I'll categorize it.

I see no alcohol or tobacco on that list. I don't know what kind of life you plan to lead in this post apocalypse world but I want no part of it.

my bad :hs: Added in as item #100

I don't smoke or drink, but I could always barter with them, I suppose :dunno:

If OT dies, we'll all just have to commit mass-suicide!

Srsly, I have satellite internet. I might still be able to communicate with other parts of the world. That failing, a laptop is also useful for games (keeping kids busy) and keeping inventory. A computer is just one o' those things you don't miss 'till it isn't there.

that's what I would keep booze for. After a complete economic collapse, booze and ammo are going to be the most universal currencies.

I'd add super glue too, its great for fixing things. However its better purpose is an easy and quick suture.

Arial maps, topographical maps, compass, ect would also be good things to have.

    already #12

    already #10.

Adding "tire repair plugs / patches". Not likely you're going to find a tire change place (or tires for that matter) if the country is busy imploding.

I'd include books, simple books with pictures of local flora and fauna, more advanced books, using a dichotomous key and books that tell you various local edible plants as well as plants that have medicinal properties.

Yes! This is something you should already have (being science-minded and having wives in the medical fields, I have lots of how-to books, med books, etc.)

Small field books on edible plants, esp. ones related to your "safe place". There are books published by area, and even by state.

    c'mon...

If the US politicians don't play their game right (feigning refusal to pass this bill, then passing it "with regrets" later this week) other markets across the globe will take a dive, and drag ours down with it. We're teetering on the edge of a worldwide economic collapse because of powerhungry politicians and investors with their nervous fingers on the SELL ALL MY SHIT button.

I've got an AK, 600 rounds, 10 gallons of water storage, and a massive can of peanut butter. :hs:

    That's pretty much it.

Depending on where you live, wood.

You can heat with it during a cold winter and you can also cook with it, probably some cast iron for open fire cooking. Or a stockpile of heating oil.

Rope you never know when you are going to need rope. Actually a variety of building supplies 2x4 plywood as well as fasteners (screws and nails) for building something you need or to make repairs.

Car car items, in addition to flat tire repair kit, extra oil and air filters, anti-freeze, ATF, differential oil and chassis lube.

Potentially a stockpile of seeds for food crops. (corn, tomatoes, potatoes)

Rain water collection system, such as rain barrels for a gutter system on ah house.
