In their defense, that ad is in bad taste, even if it's true (don't know if it is)

Can't argue with the focus of the marketing program. LOL!

I think it is true-pending how durable that Ultima turns out to be, and I do agree that isn't the best way to market products. I think it is always best to talk about the virtues of your product without mentioning the others. Compare and contrast ads are a lot more popular now though.

What I recommend with Zaino is Z-All in One, Z5 or Z2 and Z8. That really is all you need. Then the Zaino stormtroopers jump in and say you need Z-PC, ZFX, Z6, Z7 and CS. Instead of getting people to try Zaino, they turn them off to the products by making the whole process unecessarily complex and expensive.

The Ultima is $70 a bottle!!!!! Shit better be damn good for that price. Anyone have some they can send me to try out??? Wanna see if it's better than Opti-Seal, they sound extremely similar, and Opti-Seal is waaayyyyy cheaper.

I've been very happy with the Opti-Seal. It works awesome and the price is decent. I use it quite a bit. I don't even plan on trying out the Ultima.

Z-PC is similar in cut to Optimum Polish.

Visually, once they cure, I can't tell Opti-Seal and Ultima apart. Durability, I don't know, haven't had Ultima long enough. I think the main selling point of Ultima is the durability and resistance to detergents. Probably be really good for those up north this winter who run their cars through the touchless washes when it is too cold to hand wash.

Heh, I just saw a full size banner ad on the Mazda 3 forums for "Ultima: Better than Zaino" in their Google ads box. David sure is pushing that stuff hard. His marketing speak alone makes me uninterested in the product, don't care how good it is.

Im starting my winter prep this week and its Z2 and ZCS. Once winter hits I will be adding Ultima to the car once a week due to the resistance to detergents.

Ultima is no where near as good as Z2 or Z5. I have yet to compare ZCS and UPGP. Thats my next test

:dunno: I think both OS and Ultima look noticably better than Z2 or Z5, even if you top them with CS. Then factor in I really don't like any sealant on solid black so I go carnauba then.

BTW, I did a car for a customer (it was his daughter's) who uses Zaino. He has a black LS460 that he uses Z5, CS and then Z8 after every wash. Looks like it is covered in Saran Wrap. Doesn't really look black anymore, especially at an angle. He's happy with it though, so that is what counts.

It looks really weird. Very glossy but also very plasticky.

This may sound stupid but what would occur if we used carnauba wax over zaino's or ultima's sealant. Would the car blow up or something? :o

Nah nothing, would make the paint more wet but it doesnt last long. I dont know why you would pay $70 for Ultima and then top it. I topped Zaino a million times and nothing really made it look better than it already does.

It will add some depth. Honestly though, I either go all sealant or all carnauba. However, you can top cured carnauba with OS or UPGP and add some wetness without losing the depth.

I haven't been on autopia in a couple months (been busy as hell), but :ugh: from what I am hearing from this thread :o I beta tested the ultima (called red dot then), and it was very easy to use and very durable. However, I do believe he has made changes to it since then, so obviously I can't speak for the production version. $70 a bottle sounds high as hell though. I'll probably stick with 845 for my winter routine.

I agree except with Wolfgang DGPS and Poorboys EX-P, both are very topper friendly.
