So, drove up to MD this weekend to go eat some crabs ( 2 bushel = $600 :ugh: )

I packed up the guns because we have a pretty large farm. After eating we go to shoot. Can't find anywhere good because it is wet as shit, cows are out in the pasture, ect. So we head off to the local gun shop/range to do some shooting. I have hit it up before, it was ok, nothing special. I have my AR-15 and handguns, as well as WWB FMJ 45's and Remmy UMC 223.

Well, they ask to see my ammo and I show them, well it isn't "the kind we can shoot at their range"

So what ammo do they have? They have $25/50 box of some brand i have never heard of as well as $20/50 "re manufactured" brand i have never heard of.

    :ugh:

so it was a quick "ok thanks" :io:

i understand making a buck, but it only seems people want to fuck you

the gun industry is going to drive itself out of existence on being so fucking obtuse about everything.

just like i don't get baseball. the stadiums are empty, why don't they drop the price of a ticket to $5 and fill it up?!

Capitalism and freedom are being restricted by the coercion of individuals to enter into contracts involuntarily; this is caused by governmental regulation of the way citizens may spend time and spend money, creating very limited choices for the consumer, and significantly weakening the positive effects of the market system we preach so loudly but at which we scoff politically.

What explanation did they give for that not being allowed? Many indoor ranges do not allow rifles and some do not allow anything but lead bullets. It all depends on their range, the backstops and sometimes the local ordinances.

I know one of the indoor ranges near me do not allow you to bring in ANY ammo of your own because its the county law and its a newer range and could only be established if they enforced that law so that people werent transporting ammo back and forth with their weapons. Stupid, but that is the way it is and the range can do nothing about it. It was start up according to their rules or dont start up at all.

Instead of immediately blaming the range and thinking they were trying to screw you, I would have asked for an explanation and see if it made any kind of sense first. Then blame them for screwing you when it didnt. :big grin:

    royals have empty stadiums...

as far as this subject is concerned. A range I used to go to was indoor and realllly old, like 1940's old. They would only allow soft pointed or hollow point ammo, and everything they sold was HSM all lead bullet. Well I asked but they did specifically say that I could shoot WWB 9mm since the copper shell of the bullet breaks apart easily, and wouldn't hurt their backdrop. They were a University range, and didn't sell ammo to make money so it didn't really matter.

I guess it really just depends on the design of the range.

It gets to be a real problem when its the only gun store in the area or the best/biggest gun store. They get to the point where they are almost bullying their customers.
