My girls professor is also a trainer at the Vegas couture gym.. He said theres porbably one car out in the parking lot now and the UFC is saying the have partial ownership. Says people might be losing their jobs because of the UFC/Randy thing. Is it really going this far?

If they have partial ownership, I don't blame them.

That is awesome that the UFC is trying to close down one of the best gyms in the country. They really are all about the love and advancement of the sport!

UFC is a business not some charity organization for the advancement of sports.

it's possible to go too far to the point where it becomes bad business. i think that they have crossed the line here. the ufc had no problems with xtreme couture when randy was fighting for them. now all of a sudden they want to claim partial ownership?

They are trying to prevent his team from fighting in the IFL this month.

    He resigned

    You'd be fired, not sued.

There's a right way and a wrong way to do business. Their business practices have been shady since the start.

Dana is a bunch of things but stupid isn't one of them. I'd bet he's ready for court and wouldn't do anything stupid that would hurt him later in front of a judge.
The UFC has a problem with Couture and they're using everything they can to hurt the guy, it's tough business but it's still business. If they can dis-credit Couture and damage him financially it's just better for them down the road.
UFC is trying to land the knockout blow to this guy, they want to get him back under that UFC banner or keep him away from other MMA orgs, that's the key. UFC doesn't want Randy to go to M1 and give them a super fight with Fedor vs Randy. Instead of sitting quietly by and watching randy do exactly that, they're fighting tooth and nail to bury the guy and his MMA career.

It might not be nice, but it's business, UFC doesn't want to share :)

  21. I think that if what was going on was more in the spotlight (On ESPN, etc) that it would be a bad move.

As it is, it's just a low thing to do, but it probably won't hurt them because most of the people who watch their PPVs don't follow the sport that closely.

I understand what they're trying to do, but they might be sending the wrong message to their fighters and guys who might be thinking of joining the UFC. Any fighter who owns their own gym or is thinking about opening one up might be weary of resigning with them.

Maybe one day UNICEF will get into the fight business, but until then...

  25. I wonder.

It wouldn't be impossible to set a fight business up as a non-profit.

Vanguard is a non-profit investment company. Its investors own it. That's one reason it has such low fees.
