so the fight goes... sonnen gets a takedown, maia takes his back, sub via rnc?

or sonnen gets takedown, maia sweeps, maia via gnp, armbar, mounted triangle, whatever the fuck he wants.

maia's top game is so sick.

Sonnen is an excellent wrestler. Filho is considered one of the best MMA grapplers in the game and he did fine.

I think you'll be surprised how this one goes. Not saying Sonnen will win, but I don't think it will be an easy W.

sonnen will definitely outbox maia, but i firmly believe that maia is much more slick on the ground than filho.

first filho fight, sub via armbar.
2nd filho fight, that wasnt one of the best mma grapplers.

Their ADCC records disagree with your assessment.

Filho first fight - lasted until the end - got armbarred
2nd fight - not even close to the best guy, not even valid to argue

Point is, I think he'll do better than you think. I think he gives Damien a much harder time than Quarry did and possibly McDonald.

its dangerous to compare adcc success to mma. regardless, maia has transitioned his bjj very well into mma thus far.

sonnen should will be his toughest test thus far and will hopefully provide a bit of light on how maia would fair against hendo.

It's only dangerous when the guy you're talking about isn't considered one of the best MMA grapplers. I challenge you to name 3 people who were better MMA grapplers than Filho (not including the Sonnen debaucle).. Arona maybe, but they are fucking team mates and twins. No one consistently dominates people on teh floor like them.

Sonnen is just an odd style of fighter and will be a good test. I think Maia wins by sub, I'm just thinking it will be exciting up until then.

    lol @ the effort.

Filho's grappling is better than Fedor's.. Not his submissions, but his overall grappling is second to nearly no one.

I like Maia, his is probably my favorite middleweight at the moment, and its good to see the MW division get some talent like this.

I am gonna take Maia by sub, but it won't be easy... then again i said the same thing in Maias last fight and he showed me lol
