Not from just payouts. Sponsorships and all that jazz could easily bring him there.

Where are the dumbasses that stated and fully stood behind the 1.4million Gracie figure? Assfaces.

Those dipshits mentioned just showing up too. "He is a legend, they had to shell out that minimum to bring him back". Now lets not get into the who sponsorship crap. Because if we start including that then the figures would be all over the place.

    interesting interview...kind of related

I translated part of this interview that pertains to the UFC and American market. Yamamoto in the interviewer and Tanikawa the producer for K-1(GP, MAX, HERO'S)

Yamamoto: How much were tickets to the Seoul tournament?

    Tanikawa: Ringside was 100,000 yen.

    Yamamoto: 100,000 yen!

Tanikawa: This time it was shown on broadcast tv. Korea had regulations prohibiting tv from showing combat sports. It was broadcast at midnight and did very good ratings. It was big news in Korea.

Yamamoto: Now you havea new market.

Tanikawa: Our main target is America. Though this time I was surprised.

    Yamamoto: By what exactly?

Tanikawa: You went to the UFC with Sakuraba right? It was in California and did 800,000 PPV buys.

Yamamoto: Yes totally different from Japan.

Tanikawa: That's 3.2 billion yen. 40 dollars each PPV. Take that into account and Royce should have got paid more.

    Yamamoto: What do you mean?

Tanikawa: I feel it was becaue of Royce that it did so well.

Yamamoto: FEG acted as his agent?

Tanikawa: Yes we loaned Royce. We negotiated with the UFC. The opponent and the fight purse. The show did 3.2 billion yen which is around 32 million dollars, we get half, 16 million dollars. Things of this scale can't be done in Japan.

    Yamamoto: America is big business.

Tanikawa: That is where America is great. That is why Pride wants to enter the American market. end.

as long as the fighters keep coming back they will stay that way. Seriously fighters either need to start getting agents or better ones if they already do...or just go somewhere else if they plan on feeding thier children beyond the next couple of years.

:jerkit:, obviously looking back on it now.

Other sports have gone on strike...why not UFC fighters? :big grin:

I would love to see the payouts with bonuses, and at least an idea of how much money those guys make by wearing some companies t shirt for 2 minutes.

Matt Hughes, 55k base for one fight. That's ALOT of money for one fight. Most people dont earn that at their job in one year.

United States per capita income $37,500

take into account...its not the fight alone. Its months..hours a day(fulltime) of training. Compare to other sports like Boxing...it just doesnt even out.

Dana is really going to run thin if he continues to do this...especially in this time when the sport is growing like crazy.
