ugh... i started looking at tickets since montreal is only about 3 hours away from me. thought it would be fun to go to a show at least once just to check it out. i was worried the two friends i'd probably go with wouldn't want to or be able to go. one of them is trying to have a baby with his wife and it's going to cost them about $10k for in-vitro fertilization. the other one has an 18 month baby and i was expecting him to get shot down by his wife. to my surprise, the first friend actually sounded pretty positive...thought "you know, it might be a long time before i get to do something like this again, so count me in." Great! now if i can get my other buddy to go, we can all split a hotel room so it won't hurt their budgets too bad and it will all be good. i see him last night and when his wife leaves the room, i ask "so...given any thought to that UFC event in May?" him: "actually, yeah, we have talked about it" (sounding pretty up-beat) me: (hmmm...his initial reaction wasn't regret or remorse...we might have something good here) him: "yeah, we talked about it and actually thought we might go up on Friday and make a whole weekend out of it" me: "yeah, nice" (thinking: "did i just hear what i thought i heard? is he inviting his fucking wife to our guy's UFC weekend? no...he can't be that fucking stupid. here, let me ask a question to sort this shit out...") "so...what did you want to do for acomodations?" him: "well, we'd probably end up getting our own room. i mean, i don't think you and Joe would want to have to share a room with us. although, i don't know? maybe we could get a room with 2 double beds? i don't know if joe would be comfortable with that, but we could bring Anna's pack-n-play and she is sleeping through the night now..." me: ("motherfucker. not only do you want to bring your wife to ruin our guys weekend, but you're bringing your 18 month old on a UFC trip?") "um...yeah, ok" him: "so yeah, definitely, let's start checking out tickets and hotels"
