I tried to install Ubuntu yesterday just to pass the time.....cd boots fine, everything, just pulled it out of the sleeve for the first time. Go to install it, it fails. Put in another new cd, it fails. Eventually go through every cd I have (all 25 of the damn things), every damn cd is bad. What the hell?

they're not burned, they're the official ones they shipped out....only thing that comes to mind is age, I think they're the 5.04 release. I can't remember the exact file, but it's always the same.

Strange, I didn't have any trouble with my shipped Hoary ones (although I didn't try them all). Haven't tried any of my shipped Breezy ones yet :dunno:

If all of them are "bad" i get this feeling it may be your problem, not theres. I have two 5.04 official cd's and they work fine. Find out what file and head over to ubuntu's forums, they can surely help better than us
