I decided to go back to Linux last night. Threw in the live cd, no problems, went to install, no problems, get everything set up....and then it locked up trying to set up the new partitions. Won't reformat the hard drive for some reason, and it did it 4 times before I gave up.

Seriously, WTF. I used this cd a month ago, and it hasn't been touched since.

I had some trouble with 6.10 refusing to reformat and install to my existing 6.06 root partition -- which I fixed by deleting and recreating the partition -- but I have no idea why your setup would refuse to format.

I have seen this happen when the HDD incorrectly reports it's cylindars. I have had to use a Windows NT-based setup CD to format the drives, or delete the partitions, and then I play with the linux installer in "manual" partition mode and finally get it on. It depends on the drive. My laptop has a Toshiba drive and it happens any time I try to install Linux when it currently has windows.
